CHRONICLES OF SADIQ (PART 2)

Sadiq was washing the cars in the compound, after which he was to drive to pick up General’s daughter from the airport. She had completed her Law programme at the University of Leicester with a Second class lower degree. Her dad was still pissed off at her and that was the reason he did not go himself. He usually went to receive his kids from the airport. This time around though, he couldn’t be as bothered. Sadiq, however, was really excited about this expedition. He had just learned how to drive at the request of his madam and his hard work and commitment to the learning program had already began to pay off – he and madam could now whisk themselves off to unknown locations and engage in intercourse without all the risk of doing it in the house. Occasionally, he recalled some of these incidents. It was usually the first time that came to mind. It had taken him totally unawares.

.

“Sadiq, we shall be going to Lokoja today. I’m going to see one of my maternal cousins!” she had shouted from upstairs. She made sure it was to the hearing of everyone in the compound, in case General asked where she had gone. Sadiq prepared the car and informed her usual military escort. She however came downstairs and waved him away, saying she didn’t need an escort for the trip. She insinuated that she didn’t want to give off the impression that she had been spoiled with money when she was visiting her family. She also asked Sadiq to prepare a different car from the one he had prepared initially, as she wanted to appear “humble.” He obeyed and got the least costly car in the compound – an old Toyota Highlander – ready. She also instructed him to pack a small bag as they would be staying a few days. He did as he was instructed.

.

When they began on the trip, she then made known her plans to him. They were not going to see any cousin, or any family member. They were going to Lokoja quite alright, but for a purpose of a different nature. She wanted him all to herself, away from the company of soldiers, away from the prying eyes of neighbors, all who were friends or indebted to her husband. She wanted to be taken in every position possible, like a teenage girl who was discovering sex for the first time. She also wanted it to be away from any of the hotels in Abuja, where her husband could have friends. Sadiq, who was always down for whatever, felt the tingle down below.

She saw the effect the conversation was having on him and she asked him to park along the road. He obeyed. She made her way to the front of the car and instructed him to drive. He did. While he drove, she unzipped his trousers and began fondling his instrument. When it had sufficiently risen to full size, throbbing and waving, with all the veins bulging, she took him in her warm, ready mouth, her glossed lips staining his tip. Sadiq struggled to maintain control of the car, but not one to back down from a challenge, and one to always boss around the situation, he managed to steady the steering wheel with his left hand, while using his right hand to control the movement of her head.

She was such a slut, gaskiya. He thought to himself. He said a quick prayer, thanking his luck for the circumstances that had led him up to this point in his life.

“I dey mad! Shege banza! I no dey look am po road kwo?!”

Sadiq was raging. Alhaji’s Highlander had just experienced a minor scratch at the hands of one of the city’s taxi drivers. Although highly civil and patient, once in a while there came along a lunatic who seemed to be one crime away from being locked up in a mental institution. It was shaping up to be a most unfortunate day for Sadiq. He had yet to experience the rage of the General first hand and he was hoping that today would not be his baptism of fire. He didn’t want to experience it and at that, he wouldn’t have wanted it to be for such a flimsy reason as this, one in which he was not the primary culprit. He said a silent prayer and continued on his way to the airport. He marveled at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport as he approached it. He realized that he had never considered what Air travel would feel like. He silently wished he would have cause to board one of these planes. One of these days, he said. One of these days. After all, it was no crime for a man to wish.

Hauwa’s flight to Nigeria was delayed by bad weather. General had called him to tell him personally. He panicked when the voice came on the other end of the phone. He had never received a phone call from General before, seeing as he was more of Madam’s “personal staff” than on General’s direct payroll. Besides, General seldom had reason to call on him, seeing as he had soldiers for nearly everything. This time was different though. The call came in and Sadiq nearly lost control of the steering wheel when he heard the stern military voice on the other end of the phone.

“Sadiq, this is the boss. My daughter will be a little late. You’ll have to stay at the airport for four more hours. Do you hear me?”

   “Yes sah!”

   “Take care of my daughter.”

   “Ye…”

The line dropped before Sadiq could mutter a response. He kept the phone and continued on his way to the airport. When he got there, he parked the car and went to share jokes with his other driver “buddies”, who he didn’t know from Adam or Eve. There was just a brotherly fraternity that was evident in such gatherings and every member of such congregations was united by a common cause – coming to receive a certain ‘big man’ or the other. Sadiq wasted no time in bonding with his colleagues and in no distant time, they were all breaking kolanuts and talking excitedly.

.

*******

Sadiq was getting restless. He was stuck in a traffic jam. It turned out talking with his driver buddies was not a sufficient pass time. Sadiq had decided to drive to the mall to purchase a pack of cigarettes which he would smoke when he was done with this mission. He figured he had enough time to make it back before Hauwa arrived. It was in the midst of his mental chaos that General’s call came in a second time.

“Where are you? My daughter has arrived. She is searching all over for you.”

“Walahi, Oga I dey am po sorry. I go buy am po puel. Five minis Oga I pick am. Bery sorry Oga.”

“Did I ask you to buy fuel? Go and pick my daughter and stop with the tomfoolery. Don’t make me call you a second time.”

The call dropped once again and just as he was about to start praying, the gridlock began to ease. Traffic began to flow. He raced back to the airport and to the section marked “Arrivals”. He saw a girl he knew must be Hauwa. She was caramel skinned, very curvy and was wearing dark sunglasses. She had on a tight pair of jeans and a revealing blouse that seemed to cover just her nipples. It didn’t help that she had such an ample bosom. It looked like they would spill out of her shirt any minute. Her head was wrapped and she had four big boxes on a trolley. She was standing alone and looking around frantically when he ran up to her.

“Make I no vex madam, abeg my name be Hauwa Garba?”

“Yes. And who may you be?” she asked in one of the smoothest voices Sadiq had ever heard.  He was taken aback by the sultriness of her vocals. He took a minute to regain his concentration before responding.

“Sadiq. I be Sadiq. I dey work am for Big Oga. Big Oga say make I pick am po you. Enter moto make I carry am po you bag.”

He began to offload the boxes from the trolley and arrange them in the boot of the car. She stood there watching him, a look of irritation on her face. She had many reasons to be irritated. Her father hadn’t come himself to receive her for the first time. He hadn’t sent his soldiers either. All he sent was one lousy fellow and no escorts. What if he were a kidnapper? Then she dismissed the thought. A kidnapper would have come on time. She also wondered why he smelled of cigarette smoke. She hated cigarettes. She smoked only weed. She would give anything to have weed right now. She would give anything to be in a warm bath right now in her custom designed bedroom. She couldn’t wait to be home. Then she remembered her dad’s reaction to her result. There was no need to hurry, she thought. However she wanted to do away with this excuse of a fellow and his terrible grammar.  She wasn’t sure how much longer she would stand him.

“Madam, I want am po anything? Big Oga say make I take care of am po you,” Sadiq muttered. He was still visibly in awe of her presence and he was doing a terrible job at hiding it. He wished he could smoke another cigarette but he wasn’t sure ‘small madam’ would approve. That was his mental name for her now.

“I don’t need anything, thank you.” The reply was a long way from polite.

   “Madam, I sure say-”

   “I say drive!”

He shut up and looked at the road ahead of him. He tucked in his seatbelt and stole a glance of Hauwa in the rear mirror. He prayed he would make it home safely without any further altercations. This was already one of his worst days in recent memory. Then his mind wandered to Lolade. He wondered if she was missing him right now. He wondered if she was desiring him. His ‘gear’ became as stiff as the gear in his hands as thoughts of General’s wife raced through his mind while he began the drive home.
